quilts

Since the beginning of this year, I have been involved with a church assignment in addition to my primary calling. I've helped to complete two quilts. This one is called an illusion quilt. See the heart shape?!! Cool, huh! Its just from tying the yarn on its opposite color.

Payton's Birthday

Payton is now 6! He shared a party with his buddy, Aiden, who's birthday is 10 days before his. They had a really good time with their joint friends from school. There was a pinata, water play, trampoline, games, crafts and cakes!

We had a family party on Payton's real birthday in early June when we went swimming and saw Kung Fu Panda! It was an awesome movie!! The day was really hot, nearly 100 degrees!

Payton is a joy to have. Such a talkative, funny boy. He is very sweet, obedient and friendly.

tagged by Kari V- reminising and our new garden

Thanks Kari giving me homework!

It was nice to reminisce about these things. (It's taken me only a month to complete this!) So, here are my answers.

5 things I was doing 10 years ago?

(#1 &2) Well, 10 years ago I was pregnant with Owen and getting ready to move to Taiwan (living in MD at the time). (#3 &4) Our oldest son was almost 2 so I was busy being mom to him but also taking him to work with me since I nannied for a family in Clarksville. By the way I got reaquainted with them since we moved back to MD and found out their little ones (Erin and Matt) are all grown up. Matt just graduated high school! Crazy! Yes, I'm feeling older. (5) probably having some farewell parties with some great friends and family in New York

5 things on my list to do?

Now, back in the present. #1 spend a fun summer with my kids (they are outside now- its Father's Day and Greg and my dad (who is visiting) are napping) I guess I best get out and play! #2 finish unpacking the boxes that are in storage in the basement #3 plan out vacation trips #4 get recertified for teaching and get on the subfinder list since I already went through orientation- its just a phone call away and I haven't done that yet!!! (I guess cuz schools over and Im not thinking about it, but summer will go by fast. #5 finish this blog and get dinner on the table!

(Funny, looking back on my to do list above, now that a month has gone by.) I'm glad to report I've completed alot of it. #1 Having fun with my boys. We have an outing almost everyday. Going to parks, swimming, library and whatever else comes our way. #2 I signed up for subfinder but still need to get recertified. #3 Our vacations for this summer are planned and so far will work out. Visiting family in NY, going to Hawaii (sorry no Utah) and a trip to Michigan to see more family will fill up our summer nicely. We may squeeze in a day trip to Philidelphia and a seperate trip to Six Flags here in MD, but no guarentees. #4 I just about finished clearing out the boxes in the basement and sorting it. I only have three boxes left which are filled with old toys and hey, if we haven't missed it in a years time, then they will be put in the pile for our yard sale! Who knows if we will sell anything we want to get ride of but it sure will be nice to take some chump change to Hawaii, every little bit counts!

Well, I should just press the publish button and get this done. Its now June29. Alot has happened since the boys have been out of school. Picture below is their last day, their coming home off the bus. Gray gave a nice speech for part of the 5th grade ceremonies. (He was selected as one of the 5 students to give a speech. His student body consisted of about 300!)

Reminising about just this past year has been fun too! Just a year ago we bought our home, which we are very happy in now. Yet, a year ago, we were having some buyers remorse, our honeymoon feelings for our new home died off quickly because we had so much work to do. However, really attacking the major problems and working with what we had (with the help of family and friends) we feel pretty comfortable in our new home now. I even have a nice garden growing!!! See! I just hope we are around to harvest the yummy tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and herbs. It's small but now that I have a little experience, next year I will try to do more.
