2013 Big Summer Vacation- Go West- 40 yrs. and more

Noah had his braces off before our big trip out west.  Perfect smile!!

Owen's basketball team continues to win tournaments.  Coach Tucker does well training these boys.
Noah and Payton were on the same team again.  Here with Payton's classmate, Jordan.
Beginning our trip and yes, we brought our dog.  We are quite attached to her and couldn't imagine leaving Fiona for more than 2 days.  Our trip was 4 weeks long!
We visited church history sites like Kirtland, Ohio.

Much of the Doctrine and Covenants were revealed while the early pioneers/ saints lived here in Kirtland.

We learned ways they were industrious and below is the first LDS temple which isn't owned by our church currently.

Next, Carthage, Illinois where Prophet Joseph Smith was killed.
Noah having fun with this red squirrel.
A random old school house I liked the looks of.  It even has its old stables.
Nauvoo, Illinois; beautiful city and last one in the east before the Saints moved West.
The newly constructed Nauvoo temple.  Next time we will have to go inside!

Going west!  Many pretty views from our window.
We stayed in Days Inn & Best Westerns because they had rooms that were big enough for our family of 6 plus the dog.  Nice pool here (not sure where but probably South Dakota).

We stopped in Wall, South Dakota.  The town is a tourist trap because of the nearby Badlands and Wall drug store which started this touristy town.

 Badlands

Red road (maybe part of NE Wyoming or SE Montana).

We made it to Sara and Neil's home in Montana.  Thank goodness since they are moving this summer, 2014, back to AZ.  Gabby above with her chickens.
I'm testing out the horse but didn't leave the stable until day 3.
Having fun 4 wheeling but Payton, obviously, doesn't like the squishy rides.  The Blaine's sold their big van.

Glacier National Park was amazing!!!  We are glad we went their with the Blaine's.

The water was freezing but very clear.

Yes, I took care of our dog the most but she also feels the most secure with me and wants me the most.  Yeah- someone does;)

 Group photo!
 Couple of bad boys

Next, we stopped in Idaho, Rexburg and took his photo of their temple and checked out BYU Idaho campus.
In Utah, our first weekend, we visited old college buddies at a park.  Above we see the Davis's.  Below is Kristy Oblad and Jill Johnson, roomies!!

Another day in Utah, enjoying time with family at another park in the Canyon playing soccer.
 Abuelita Soledad, te amo.

Al and Randi's home.  We had a few get-togethers here.  They were wonderful hosts!  Thanks!  At their local park Randi organized a fun 4th of July event.
Hiking BYU with Fiona and Greg.

At the Great Salt Lake w/ Anderton's.

We are grateful for friendships that last forever!

A couple times the boys jumped at a trampoline park near a hotel we stayed at, which was across the street from UVU in Provo.  I think these pics are actually of Addison and Isaac.

Leaving Utah we went past Arches National Park.  I'm glad Greg insisted on this. I think it is prettier than Canyonland even if it was a little further out of our way.

Below we are at an Orioles game for Noah's birthday.  He turne 13 and now we officially have 3 teenagers!!  Above, pics from flowers from my 40th birthday.

Payton with our friends dog, Heberts- Dewey.  They just got him.  We spent lots of time with the Heberts in summers of 2012 an 2013.  Great friends that also have 4 boys about the same ages as our boys.  Katrina pictured above is a sweetheart.

Yes!  I'm a big girl now;)  40 is the new 20!
Fall football.  Owen played for freshman team and played a lot, his team did very well.  Gray was on Varsity but did not get much playing time because his coach likes to let Senior's get most of the spotlight.  2014 will be his year!

Eating at a yummy restaurant near Bowie, MD.  "Lemongrass"  Noah had to be at his game an hour earlier than necessary so he isn't with us.  Of course, we went back to see his game after we ate.

 Thanksgiving above with GG Gams.
Winter 2013 and 2014 was our longest one ever!  We had lots of snow storms.

Visiting the temple for Christmas Eve.  It was very crowded!

Owen played freshman basketball for the Knights.  Gray's class above doing a lot of cheering.

Greg had this idea to use our boys old Raiders jersey's to make a quilt. His mother did a fantastic job creating this.  It was given to us in the new year.  Noah was our last Raiders fb player.  Payton doesn't care to play football.  (I'm happy our Saturday's in the fall of 2014 will be free! - oh, wait - we signed up Payton for fall baseball.  Lucky him, he will get all our attention since we will not have to be at 2 or 3 fields at once.  Those days are over.)  Crazy how time flies!!
