Owen's Baptism Birthday!

Tuesday, January 16, 2007
Today was Owen's birthday. Not just any birthday, his Baptism birthday. "I like my birthdays everyone each brings a greater joy to me, but I can't wait until I'm eight, for then I'll be baptized you see."

The evening went very well. Above is a poster I put together about Owen. We are grateful to all those that could come. For our family who couldn't but wanted to, I hope you enjoy these pictures.

Owen was smiling from ear to ear when he returned from the font. A new boy! He looked so mature! This is a picture of all of us at the end of the program. He received the gift of the Holy Ghost the same day!

A friend later asked, "Does he feel changed?" I think he does. I hope he will always remember that feeling. Sadly enough, he won't always remember nor feel "new". Of course, like all of us, he will forget who he is at times and make mistakes. He might not always act "mature". However, this commitment and stepping stone will be forever imbedded in his mind and heart. Today was the start of a new beginning he can always look back on. And as he remembers in whom he has made this covenant with, how can he fail? For this gospel is a gospel of repentance. He can trust the Lord. And as Owen faithfully lives as he knows he should- repenting along the way- he will be blessed with the promises of this day forever! This is my testimony.

I remember when I got baptized and received the Holy Ghost. I always thought the Holy Ghost was going to tell me what to do and how to do it. Kind of like it was His responsibility to make some big decisions in my life. Call me naive. I've learned more about this wonderful gospel of repentance and baptism and more about how to recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost as I have taught and prepared my boys for this ordinance. I hope they will be able to gain from my knowledge. However, like most of us, we learn the hard way...by our own experiences, and so will they. For this is how we really stregthen and keep our own testimonies. I share this with you in Jesus name, Amen.
