In our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe that children before the age of accountability, 8 years old, are saved by the grace or atonement of Jesus Christ. So, we prepare them for baptism to this age. At this age, if we parents, bishop and the child feels ready, we set a baptism date and he or she is baptized on or after their 8th birthday.
Noah was lucky to get baptized on his birthday, the 16th of August. Owen was also lucky and was baptized on the 16th of his month in January. Since Gray was also baptised on the 16th of his month, which was October, I think Payton will be getting baptized in his 8th year on the 16th of his month that being June. So family, you can plan for that in a couple of years!! It's been a great tradition in our family!
Another tradition is that our boys get their first set of nice scriptures at this age. Noah's has been waiting and is very excited to have his own and with his name on them!!
We are lucky both sets of grandparents were able to make it. Grandpa Bob gave a talk on baptism. His first experience. He did a good job. Greg also had him busy doing another job when he came down; putting in a storm door with a screen. (That's why I have them posing next to it.) August has been remarkably cool and we have really enjoyed having this screen door on!! Thanks again Bob.
