flood damage and blessings

Two great things about this flood. #1, I was able to get rid of alot of things, like this doll. I've had this since I was a kid. I think my mom loved it more than I did because there are ribbons to learn to tie with, buttons and buckles to fasten, and a zipper pocket inside the vest to store things! But now it sure is scarey looking and smells like mold. Goodbye! #2, our basement will smell better and looker newer! It wasn't bad to start with but now it will be better! It sure takes alot of time and muscle power though! I'm tired! My garden is second on my list now that I've had this big project to do. I have had to refuse 4 job offers too! I just can't function or work outside the home when I've got tons of work in the home. Next month I'm sure I'll be back to substitute teaching.

The berber carpet was damaged in two areas and we decided to tear it all out! (but left the berber on the stairs)

Yellow room by the basement door. Thanks to our neighbors the Cass's, I borrowed their shop vac and cleaned up the mess. I did this all myself since Greg was already at work when I discovered it! (Lucky him. Yes, I called and bawled to him but he finished his full day of work and then helped me tear out carpet that night. Aug. 27th... night of the storm... discovered this the next a.m.) School had just started the 25th, so the boys weren't around to help either. (I guess that's a blessing in disguise.)

under the stairs

corner of green room, under futon; Im glad the bed didn't get damaged or any furniture!
