Christmas in AZ 2010

We made it to beautiful Arizona for Christmas! We did one hike and there are many pictures below to show for it. This is in the Superstition Mts. of east Mesa. It was a clear, gorgious day! See Greg wore shorts! There aren't many pictures with Greg because he went ahead with the fast group and I walked up the trail with my sisters and the younger, slower group. This was a highlight of our vacation.

From what I can remember, this trail has been around since the Wild West days of cowboys and indians and the Gold Rush.

My sister, Susan, with her youngest.
Sometimes she carried her on her shoulders, other times I helped and part of the time she walked. Good job MayLi!

Yes, the name of the trail.

see the hieroglyphs in the rocks!

This is why its called a forrest. The Toto National Forrest has alot of cactus!

This cactus above was probably destroyed by lightning. It looks cool.

Susan, Meloney and I resting at the end of the trail... which wasn't really the end but it was our end.

Cheese, family photo time!
Dari perched at the top of a cave.

Noah relaxing at the top of a cave.

Payton, king of the top of the cave!

Owen and Addison relaxing in the cave. (Everyone loved this and spent some time in it.)

Noah and Payton peeking out from the cave. Even though Im not a scientist I can imagine that over a thousand years ago a volcano errupted and alot of rock toppled on top of one another... thus forming this cave. That's what it looks like!
Dari and Kambria at the mountain climbing section that we ended up at.

Lea doing her part, enjoying the climb. She even found a yucky pond.

Gray loved the mountain climbing, because the trail was fairly easy, rocky with a slight incline but relatively easy for his long legs.

"I spy a hieroglyph!" This symbol means "smile in the sunshine and you will live a long life".

Little feet enjoyed walking on the rocks like frogs hopping from one lily pad to the next. I think they counted one million- four hundred thousand-nine hundred and 57 of them!

Meloney giving Bentley a ride up the trail. He was a good trooper!

Owen and I just loving the AZ wilderness. Shades are a necessity here!
Cool hikers!
